Like in the last years, research and digital media agency we are social published its annual yearbook packed with interesting stats and data on the development on digital across the world. New in this year: we are social teamed up with Hootsuite to deep dive even more into some areas. 2017 kicks-off with an interesting milestone since half of the world's population is now connected to the internet - meaning a +10% increase in total number of web users compared to last last year. Social media has also seen quite a healthy growth of +8% YoY to now be used by 37% of the world's population - 2.5 billion of the 2.8 billion social media users coming from mobile!
From We Are Social's data - as also seen in other sources - mobile browsing now accounts for half of the world’s web traffic. Being a +30% increase in mobile usage YoY. The internet is mobile, stupid.
